What’s On Golden Valley 1st October 18
We are now well and truly in to Autumn. Last week, I shared about the many local Harvest Festivals. The ploughing matches are flowing thick and fast, or should that be ‘pulling forward’? On Saturday, I took part in the recycling at Ewyas Harold before visiting the Vowchurch Farmers’ Market, where I took advantage of a great range of products to stock the shelves. I’ll be sharing a bit more elsewhere about some of the local products I am discovering.
Whilst at Vowchurch, I found out about the Thruxton & District Ploughing & Produce Festival, taking place next Saturday 6th. There is a fungal foray at Queenswood the same day, so it seems I am double booked. I do fancy the Thruxton event as I have not yet attended a ploughing competition.
I then attended the latest Outdoor Church organised by Ewyas Harold Baptist Church. The church there is very blessed to have a connection to Longtown Outdoor Activity Centre, and we joined the Marches Scout Group on a weekend of activities. These included the tunnel challenge (the youngsters crawl down a tunnel, and then repeat the exercise meeting another coming the other way). There was also a rope descent/climb and swing on a wire, to name but two. It was a really special experience. And the weather was pretty fantastic too!
Please do let me know what is happening in your area, and I’ll try to visit.
Until next week….
